a native of san diego, sabastiani “sabi” leon played her way through the rankings in the juniors, high school, college, and the professional tours.

she was ranked top 15 in the girls 16u/18u divisions. as the #1 singles player at mt. carmel high school, she helped the school claim their first cif team victory. she Was also a semi-finalist in cif individual doubles.

She also competed in mexico and was ranked #1 in baja california norte and nationally ranked.

she earned a full athletic scholarship to san jose state university where she lead the spartans to their first conference title as the #1 singles and #1 doubles player. after Graduating with the degree in business administration with an emphasis in marketing, she continued her career on the professional circuit.

she continues to compete on the itf/wta tour with career high rankings of #699 in singles and #499 in doubles.

sabi furthers her tennis prowess as the itf player’s panel representative of the north american, central american, and caribbean territory. In this role, she created the official instagram for ITFWTTPLAYers where she educates players on the rules.

She is also the president of the RSPA san diego division educating over 200 teaching professionals in the san diego, coachella Valley, and imperial valley area.

in 2025, she was awarded the rspa star award recognizing her efforts dedicating many years to volunteering in grassroots racquet sports and through initiatives incorporating multicultural and other aspects and bring the sport and sportsmanship to the players they touch.

Sabastiani Leon
